'SoundPad for Notification Center' Is A New Sound Mixing Widget

If you like playing with sounds to make beats, then there is a new free jailbreak widget available in Cydia right now called SoundPad for Notification Center by iOS developer Mathieu Bolard. With it, you can play around with up to four channels of sound at once right from your Notification Center.

The widget keeps everything nice and tidy; it has a very clean and simplistic design, which is a great quality to have. The widget retains Apple’s default widget size, and it only has four centered buttons that each look the same and do the same thing as the other buttons, but this is because they are for sound-mixing. If you scroll over to the right, you will find the developer's Twitter in a shortcut with the Twitter button and a PayPal donation button so that you can give the developer a donation if you like the widget. It also shows you brief instructions for using the widget.

At first, all widget buttons will be gray and have a play icon in them. The first thing you will need to do is record a sound. To do this, you must hold down on the button – during this time, the button will turn red and show a stop icon in it. Tapping on the button in this event will stop the recording. After you do so, the button will turn gray with a play button inside of it again and you can tap on it to play the sound you just recorded – during this time, the button will turn green with a volume icon inside and you will hear the sound coming from your external speaker or headphones if you are using them.

With four separate buttons capable of working all at the same time, you can have up to four channels of sound in your little, homemade beat. You can record and play sound with more than one button at once, but there is no way to actually save the sound mixes that you make.

The widget can be enabled or disabled at any time by simply dragging it in and out of Notification Center from the Notifications preferences pane in the Settings application. The widget was designed to offer some temporary entertainment to its users. Due to it having a good design, a working interface, and even being free, I would say this widget is worth installing.

There is a bug with the BigBoss version of the tweak that was released just today. If you have issues getting the tweak to work from the BigBoss repository, you can download the updated version from Mathieu’s private repo (version 0.0.4-2). It will work as intended. His private repo is shown below:

Be sure to give this widget a try if you like playing with sounds. It is certainly a fun widget that will keep the kids busy.

Note: The developer will update the BigBoss version with his private repository version when he is absolutely sure that all bugs are gone. It shouldn't take too long!
